From family history material written by Marieeta Eckerman: Ora Ellen Duffield was 5 ft. 1 in. in height. She had lovely brown eyes, dark brown hair, and a clear complexion. She was an unusually pretty woman and a woman of culture and character. She was a member of the Baptist church, but after coming to Muskegon, she attended the Methodist Church.
Ora Ellen Duffield Eckerman died suddenly at age 51 of an apparent heart attack. Other illness: high blood pressure.
Muskegon Chronicle obituary of o/a 30 Sep 1930: Mrs. Charles T. Eckerman, 51 years old, wife of Dr. Charles T. Eckerman, 45 E. Iona avenue, died Monday afternoon at Hackley hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Eckerman was born in Woodstock, Ill., in August 1879. The past 24 years she was a resident of Muskegon. Her maiden name was Ora Duffield and her marriage to Dr. Eckerman took place in Chicago. Mrs. Eckerman attended the Central M.E. Church and was a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Harold Eckerman, of Milwaukee, Charles and Robert, of Muskegon; three brothers, Sidney, Tracy and Fay Duffield, all of Chicago, and one grandchild, Charles Robert Eckerman.
